There are many things I would like to protect myself from, but there are five in particular that I would most definitely choose: Police brutality, spiders, any strikes from behind, bullets, and lightning strikes. These dangers are always on my mind whenever I go on a casual stroll. To extend my current capabilities, I would like to be able to reach near-impossible spots (spots you’re barely out of reach due to the rigidness of the human body), see in the dark, be able to instantly react to anything, breathe underwater with the ability to swim well, and the ability to project images in my head into the real world. Out of the ten, I would like to create a piece that can help me prevent strikes from behind. This would most likely look goofy on me, but I’m constantly paying attention to my surroundings and I don’t want people to think I’m weird for constantly looking behind me. For this creation, it would be two mirrors, that can be adjusted, and attached to a helmet. They’ll be positioned in a way so that I can see 180 degrees behind me.
- Mirror 2. Helmet 3. Eyes 4. The backside of a person 5. Owl 6. Porcupine (purpose of back protection) 7. Motorcyclist (anyone who wears a helmet) 8. Hydra (heads move independently, so one can watch behind) 9. Camera 10. Periscope
One piece I find compelling is the Infinity Mirror Room. The room is arranged with a bunch of mirrors that allow for the reflection of “infinite” reflection, hence the name. I’m not looking to recreate the infiniteness of the work, but the reflection that allows the person to see behind them. This work of art was created by Yayoi Kusama.
