Research Step 1: Choose and clarify the purpose of wearable art
Five dangers:
- Sun exposure
- Anxiety
- Snakes and sharks
- Fire
- Cybersecurity breach
Five ways to extend capabilities:
- Jump higher and run faster
- Be able to see more information and statistics about the world around me in real time
- Night vision
- Have more senses like being able to see radiation or magnetic fields, or communicate telepathically.
- Be fitter and be able to exercise for longer without getting tired
I have chosen to be able to see more information and statistics about the world around me in real time
Having a work of art that gives me more information about the world around me would solve many of the problems I have stated above, not just one. I would be able to see information about the places I visit like how much things cost, I could get directions to places easily as well as communicate with people instantly. I would also be able to get information about radioactivity, see physical dangers in my environment, and have night vision.
I aim to create a wearable piece of art that would be on my head. This would be over my eyes as well as implanted into my head as well as over my mouth and nose. Because it is implanted into my head it could alter my brain signals and chemicals so that I would be less tired and my body wouldn’t get the signals to stop exercising even when I can continue going. I will also be able to connect to my electronic devices and work way faster without the use of my hands. Being over my eyes means I would get a live feed of things I should be seeing important information instantly and it could detect any dangers my own eyes cannot see. Being over my mouth and nose means It could enhance my senses or protect me from harmful chemicals or bad smells.
Research Step 2: Borrow a Strategy
Artwork is “Your Spiral View” by Oliafur Eliasson
I like the strong edges and reflective materials that the spiral is made of.
Research Step 3: Create Sketches
