When I was a toddler, I caught a rotavirus which resulted in me falling extremely ill with diarrhea. While my parents initially tried to keep my home until I got better, I eventually reached the point where I was hospitalized for dehydration. With IV fluids, that was dealt with extremely quickly, but I was kept in the hospital until I had fought off the virus enough that I could stay hydrated just by drinking fluids. Ultimately, this meant that a toddler who had been sick for several days was suddenly feeling better, but stuck to an IV pole. What followed was a scene not out of place in Scooby Doo, with me and my toys running around the pediatric unit of the hospital as my dad; carrying the IV pole; chased after me so that I didn’t pull out the catheter.
