Step 1:
Five dangers to protect myself from: unemployment, overthinking, internet/data stealing, guns, hate crimes. Five ways to extend the capabilities of my body: protective shield (stronger skin), confidence, blending into any environment (socially), better instincts, quick thinking. Out of the ten ideas, I am choosing overthinking because I often overthink many situations in my day to day life. It can be so tiring and draining to take a scenario and spiral out of control with your thoughts. It often involves getting stuck in your own head and running in circles focused on a seemingly random encounter that may mean nothing to the other person. The purpose of this project would focus on making the wearer free from these suffocating thoughts, to release them from the millions of thoughts running through their head. This would help them to focus on more productive thoughts and allow them to enjoy the present moment. Overthinking often hinders my ability to work or even just relax because I am so caught up in my mind that I can not think of anything else. Some tangible people/places/things I associate with overthinking are:
- Large social gatherings
- Brain
- Skull
- Head
- Classrooms
- Bedroom
- Isolation (solitary confinement)
- Conversations
- Blinders
- Spiral
Step 2:
I intend to borrow the head peice covering while making a visually interesting shape/silhouette.
